Day 20 of 30 of the #teamlivelongandprosper yoga challenge! We have a tough one today, be patient with yourself and this asana, it is one that takes time. Albatross (aka Side Peacock), Eka Pada Koundinyasana II is a pose that develops strong abdominals, lower back and outer hip muscles as well as stretches the inner thigh muscles (the adductors). Half the body is in Peacock (mayurasana) which develops abdominalpelvic energy and stimulates the organs which rids the body of toxins. Points of Alignment: (on the right side) *From downward facing dog, raise the right leg into downdog split and bring it to the top of the mat into lunge *Inhale to elongate the spine, exhale to tuck the right shoulder underneath the right leg, spiraling the left heel off the mat coming into airplane *From airplane pose, bring the arms into chaturanga with the right upper inner thigh on the right tricep *Toe/heel the right leg out to the side about one foot *Then tilt the torso over to the left, drawing the left elbow to rest on the abdomen near the belly *Straighten the right leg out to the side Dont forget to use #teamlivelongandprosper and tag both myself and Frances Kilkenny in your post to be entered into the drawing everyday! ***If you would like to be added to the contact list about the release of the new program PiYo on June 19th, please comment more info below! I have a PiYo focused challenge group opening June 30th, spots are limited so please let me know if youre interested in joining the group! *****
