Day 30: Arafat Day God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds; who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high… (Hebrews 1:1-3). Arafat Day is the second day of Hajj, seventy days after Ramadan. On the first day of Hajj, Muslims walk counter-clockwise around the Ka’aba (a cube shaped building at the centre of Islam’s most sacred mosque in Saudi Arabia), kiss the Holy Black Stone and turn their thoughts to Allah. On the evening of Arafat Day, Muslims gather forty-nine small stones to use the next day to “stone the devil,” whom they believe tried to stop Abraham from offering Ishmael as a sacrifice. They then enjoy Eid ul_adha holiday (Festival of the Sacrifice). • Fast and pray for Muslims at this time, asking the Lord for many of them to come to the saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus. Nevertheless when one turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. (2 Corinthians 3:16). • Pray for Christians travelling through airports and on flights to testify of the love of Jesus and His sacrifice on the Cross for the free gift of eternal life for Muslims also. • Pray for truth to be revealed: That God is known only through Jesus Christ the seed of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob - not Ishmael - according to the Bible.
