Day 6 of our study of Revelations (with the help of King James Version Bible Commentary by Nelson Publishing). Todays reading: Revelations 2:18:29 (Tomorrows reading: Revelations 3:1-6) Todays selected verses: And he that overcometh and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations; And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers; even as I received of my Father. (Verses 26-27) Commentary/Question to Ponder: Throughout this letter to the church of Thyatira, Jesus commends and encourages the church as a whole while condemning the ungodly teachings of certain leaders (namely Jezebel and her followers). It occurs to me that some readers may interpret todays selected verses as a license for vengeance against those who might oppress Christians or tempt them to follow an ungodly path. But I submit even as I received of my Father works against such an interpretation. Jesus has never been interested in worldly vengeance against his tormentors. Right? The Bible Commentary says this about these verses: Those who refuse the advantages of the world, which the ungodly prematurely enjoy, will yet enter into the ample privileges provided for them by Christ. How should we Christians respond to false, even dangerous, teaching in our churches.
