Day 74 of ES Dr. Visits Weekly weight, temp, blood pressure, - TopicsExpress

Day 74 of ES Dr. Visits Weekly weight, temp, blood pressure, and blood count check ups! Weight is holding steady...65.2! I am no doctor, but I AM aware of how many tube feedings Elijah has had this past week. I was convinced that he would hit 66 lbs today. Then, I thought about how active hes been the last few days. I think thats why his weight stayed at 65 lbs. Hes had lots (and I mean LOTS) of feedings and has eaten as much as could be expected (dealing with no taste and a sore throat). But, hes also been on the go quite a bit. While we are THRILLED hes had a little more energy, we want to make sure his feedings match his activity! Although Dr. Pope was happy with his weight, our personal goal is that he gains before our next appointment!! So....pray for 66 lbs!!! Blood counts are PHENOMENAL!!! All the basic counts have maintained a normal level throughout treatment. The one count weve kept an eye on is Elijahs lymphocyte count. This was expected to drop due to the Temodar (chemo meds). Since radiation and chemo have stopped, Dr. Pope has monitored it closely. Last week his lymphocyte count was .38. This week, .64! YAHOOOOOOOOO!!! Yes, it DOUBLED in a week! Elijahs little 65 lb body is fighting and fighting and fighting! THANK YOU GOD for giving his body the strength only You can provide!!! Elijahs neck is looking FANTASTIC (per Dr. Pope)!!! It blows my mind the difference only a week has made. I did take pictures when it was looking....rough. Elijah has been extremely reluctant about my posting those pics. Im hoping that since it looks so incredible now, hell let me post some before/after photos. You truly have NO idea what hes had to deal with during the radiation healing process! THANK YOU Dr. Crimaldi for the creams and continued reminders that it WILL get better quickly! After talking with Dr. Pope, Elijah met with Dr. Steele. She is SO positive, SO encouraging, and SO matter-of-fact about how he can face/handle things he sees as unpleasant! I wonder if psychologists can move in with patients for the duration of their treatment?!?! Wed LOVE Dr. Steele to be with us (and I mean ALL of us) every step of this journey! In short, shes pretty terrific!!! Connie, we didnt get to see you today~Gigi and Pappy were heading home after the appointments and everyone was kind of down-in-the-dumps. I know...that would have been the BEST time to get some Connie hugs, smiles, and love! PLEASE know that even though we havent been by, we think about, talk about, and hold on to your love every day!!! We WILL see you soon!!! You are family and WE LOVE YOU!!! Today and yesterday have felt like a Saturday/Sunday instead of a Sunday/Monday. Either way, we have been BLESSED more than we deserve and more than we could imagine! WARRIORS! We continue to feel your prayers and love as we seem to float from day to day! GOD IS SO GOOD!!! We are humbled by His grace shown through all of YOU every day! All my love and endless thanks! JMH
