Day 9 of Thanks: Today i want to say how Thankful i am of Brenda Wallace Fread. I graduated nursing school almost 2 years ago. I did graduate #1 in my class, but let me tell you what...that means jack shit... She took a chance on me fresh from school and gave me a job. Not only did she do that but she taught me confidence in being a nurse and for that be forever grateful. She always let me come to her with questions, she provided an environment that was relaxed and easy for me to learn in. She is the DON at Lane Murray but more times than not she was working shoulder to shoulder with us on the floor. teaching us nursing treatments we had only read about in school, encouraging us to use our nursing skills. Most of all she always had my back. when id screw up, she never used it against me, always told me it was an opportunity to learn, and always stood up for her nurses. She was always on the front line taking the hits for her nursing staff, holding her ground to get us things we needed, and policys in place. When i grow up she is the nurse i want to be. She will not take this praise from me in person, and i can tell you as she reads this post she is probably shaking her head at me, thats just one more reason why she is so great. Thank you Brenda , you taught me to have confidence in my skills, gave me time to learn, and because of that i have saved lives. She is no longer my boss, but she will always be my friend and you can never have enough awesome nurse friends :)
