Day two of Five Days of Gratitude: 1) Im grateful I have an awesome son. Really, Sebastian is awesome! LOL He works hard, he really tries to be a good person, and every morning he says on his own just to make me feel better, I love you mom, have a good day at work. Sure, he has his odd ways, and will never be a professional sports player, but he is a better kid than I could have ever hoped for. He inspires me to do more and be a more positive person. 2) Im grateful for my kids schools and homeroom/ autism specialist teachers and their school campuses. When people (including myself) see, hear, and talk about the wrongs of education, I honestly see many, many more things right this school year for my kiddos and their various classmates on campus. A big shout out for Mirandas teacher, who actually has long-term goals for her students. Last year was pretty painful in some regards, and looking for a new teacher and campus is not fun and makes me second-guess everything. I knew I found the one for Miranda when I saw the email she sent out to her graduating 8th graders and their parents and learned her child with special needs was accepted into and attended Berkeley. Dear Parents, It is with a heavy heart that I say goodbye to my students who are now 9th graders. I care deeply about all my students and their families and plan to be at their high school and college graduations. I hope you will keep me informed of their progress. Change can be difficult, but its a necessary part of development. To all my parents who experience anxiety with new changes to come, I can relate as my baby, 20 year old **** will be moving out of our home in August as he was accepted to UC Berkeley to pursue his degree in mathematics as a junior transfer. Your son may remember ***** as my son who pitched a tent for one of our parties, the one who brought his pet rats to class, the one who shared his homemade physics project/toy to our class and the one who used to be an actor and has been in national commercials. I cant tell you how much I will miss him. And change can be wonderful, too. Im looking forward to a wonderful year with three new AWESOME 7th grade students so far as well as our 2 WONDERFUL now 8th grade students. My middle son, *****, who recently completed his Bachelors of Science in math at UCLA has moved home :) to save money as he searches for the perfect job. Dont tell ******, but ***** plans to take back the good room once **** moves to Berkeley :) What I have learned and I hope to impart to you is this - Enjoy every moment - even the bad ones, for those memories will stay with you forever and they will be far more palatable if we remember to breathe, see the good in every situation and dont sweat the small stuff. Time with our children is fleeting so make the most with it with your child. Im so happy Ive been blessed to go on this journey with your children. Whether it is the road less or more traveled, it is the one we want to be on. HAPPY SUMMER!! Sincerely, 3. I am grateful for coffee... now back to work for me. I nominate Tavia McMillon and Fernando Ruffo to complete the challenge. 5 days of gratitude for 3 different things in your life. Nominate two new people each day.
