Deadline Approaching! The William P. Van Wagenen Fellowship — Apply by Oct. 1 Through the Neurosurgery Research and Education Foundation (NREF), the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS) offers the William P. Van Wagenen Fellowship program for 2015. The Van Wagenen Fellowship was designed to give neurosurgical residents freedom in scientific development without the restrictive limitations usually imposed by many other research grants and fellowships. The fellowship includes the following: • $120,000 stipend for living and travel expenses to a foreign country for a period of 12 months • $6,000 family travel and living allowance if a spouse and/or children will accompany the Fellow • $15,000 of research support to the university, hospital or laboratory sponsoring the Fellow • $5,000 for medical insurance, if needed The fellowship is open to all senior neurological surgery residents (PGY 7) in approved neurosurgery residency programs and whose intent is to pursue an academic career in neurological surgery. The fellowship is expected to conclude the year following completion of residency. The country of study must be different than the Fellows country of residence. The fellowship will begin July 1, 2015, and end June 30, 2016. Applications should be received by Oct. 1, 2014. Please submit applications via email to [email protected].
