Role Description Commissioning Editors research and identify topics in order to create proposals that express the overall vision for a product that will meet the needs of customers within a given market. Proposals that meet the required standard of commercial viability become the starting point for projects that are executed by the company. Based within the newly created Commissioning Team and a part of the Product Management division, the role undertakes dedicated research to help locate significant areas of opportunity within the technology publishing market. The role works to understand the specific information needs and behaviours of individual target audiences, in addition to the production of research documents intended to bolster internal insight and commissioning output. Commissioning Editors share this knowledge with other members of the team and also with project stakeholders in the A&R, Channels, and Marketing departments so they can increase the internal awareness of external customer groups.
