Dear Cumbrian Dancers I am excited about coming to you on Friday October 24th. Two and a half hours of embodied awareness in movement. A space to enter, engage with and emerge transformed. I find my dance floor transformations can be subtle, huge, and everything in between. To be honest, Im not even really there for transformation, Im really there to find my dance, to be in that ecstatic dance presence where everything about me is fulfilled. There is me, the moment, the movement, the music, and everything else falls away and I feel the freedom of emptiness. My full and empty ecstatic dancer is the one who lures me back to the dance floor time after time after time. Transformations happen along the way. They are the most apparent if I arrive on the dance floor feeling tired, or out of sorts in some way. These states are easy to change. A little movement, a little attention on body parts, and the energy I carried into the room with me is gone. For deep transformations, a little stretch is always beneficial, I find. If, for example, I am asked to take a partner, I may not at first feel like it, as I am enjoying my own thing too much and dont want/know how to share it . . . so I stretch and take that partner and if I can just let go of what was and open up to what is, then I am in for a treat as I get to at least witness another human being in movement before me, and if Im willing and spontaneous enough I will enter into a together dance with him or her, that begins to take on a life of its own, and right there, Ive disappeared again. Result! I do hope you will come and join us in sweet Mungrisdale Village Hall at 7pm on friday October 24th and we will move, stretch and transform each other, and I hope and intend, disappear into the Big Dance together.
