Dear Disney Store and Product Developers, I was saddened when I walked into my local store with my daughter to find that you have still not released any Sheriff Callie products. As she “giddy upped” into a world full of princesses hoping to find Sparky, she was rather distraught to find that with yet another visit, there were still no Sheriff Callie items. While I know that you have a few t-shirts and a binder online, this is not acceptable for my 3 ½ year old that loves Sheriff Callie and Sparky. The amount of princess related items is absolutely ridiculous. I mean how many versions of a cup to you really need to mass produce with the same characters on it! While I grew up in a world of Disney Princesses and fairy tales, and find nothing wrong with a little dress up and pretend play, my husband and I are also teaching our daughter to be strong, independent, friendly, inventive, and creative. We don’t all turn into princesses when we grow up, nor should we, as women, aspire to be a princess and have someone take care of us. Sheriff Callie, a leader, is similar to Doc McStuffins, an engineer, in that they are both strong, independent, intelligent characters that teach young girls that they can be more than just a pretty face. I’m beyond proud of my young daughter for her ability to relate more to these two characters than the princesses. She is growing up to be a strong, intelligent girl that I know will take the world by storm. And for that, I would love to be able to give her the Sheriff Callie and Sparky that she is longing for. Until that can happen, there will be no more Disney Store trips for us because it is suppose to be the Magical World of Disney and right now, it isn’t very magical for my little girl. The problem is that there arent both. Disney spends more resources and energy mass producing walls and walls full of princess items with different pictures of the same princess on them and yet there is a small display of Doc McStuffins and absolutely nothing Sheriff Callie. So...if there is room for both...why is it only one sided?! Disney Store
