Dear Dr. Alfred Mutua, These fundamental questions about the road remain unanswered; 1. Why is the road already undergoing fixing while it was to last for at least 10 years before repairs? Who is taking responsibility for this (the contractor or the Machakos County government)? 2. Why is it that the Machakos County government is undertaking repairs, while contractors are said to have issued a 10-year guarantee? 3. At a cost of Kshs.650 million, is this the best quality the money could pay for? 4. What do documents and agreements signed say in terms of cost, quality and maintenance of the road covering the said 10-year guarantee? 5. How was the tendering process carried out, and what was the input of the residents of Machakos on the same? 6. Is the notion of development being used to supersede the purpose of accountability and transparency to taxpayers? Mr. Governor, it is vital to answer these questions first before resorting to name calling.
