Dear Facebook Friends, I have recently had an experience with Travelocity that I would like to share with you. If you have ever used Travelocity, youve probably seen their ads touting the Travelocity Price Guarantee. If you buy a flight or hotel reservation from them and find it cheaper elsewhere online, they will refund the difference and give you a $50 travel coupon for their website. Of course, there are terms and conditions that you must read and follow. So, I did. I followed the terms and conditions to a T. I purchased three inter-island flights for my trip to Hawaii. These flights were significantly cheaper on Hawaiian Airlines website...like $40-98 cheaper. So, I submitted claims for each of the flights. First of all, they only give you 24 hours to cancel your flight reservation without penalty. However, the can take up to 72 hours to respond to your claim. Therein lies the first SCAM. They honored the first claim (the smallest amount, naturally) but not the second or third. They provided no concrete reason why they didnt honor the claims except to reprint their terms and conditions. I spent 3.5 hours on the phone, most of which was on hold. You have to talk to at least 3 people to get to the person who can actually help you and they hang up on you to make you call back. They hung up on me twice. They claim to have no connection capabilities to connect you to the person you were talking to before they hung up and even when you provide a call back number they will not call you back. Oh, and did I mention that their customer service center is in INDIA? So, youre lucky if you can understand the persons accent or hear through the static. SCAM No. 2. This is the most abominable customer service, if you can even call it that, that I have ever experienced. They intentionally give you the run-around so that youll go away and they can just keep your money. Why am I telling you this? To forewarn you. Please, PLEASE think twice about using Travelocity for your travel needs. You can often get equally good deals by buying directly from the airline or hotel. And whatever you do, dont give yourself the headache of trying the Travelocity Price Guarantee. Its a SCAM. Rant over. Love, Gordon
