Dear Family, Friends & FB Family and Friends, 20 years and 16 - TopicsExpress

Dear Family, Friends & FB Family and Friends, 20 years and 16 days ago, I made a decision that would change my life forever. Over the course of time, Ive done a lot, seen a lot, lead, followed, taught, learned, mentored, smiled, cried, walked, ran, crawled, and so much more. Mostly positive and very few negative moments. Ive visited 41 different countries, experienced 41+ different cultures, jumped in foreign waters, drove foreign highways, and soared thousands of miles across foreign skies. Ive had the opportunity of a second chance, playing a sport Ive always loved; through it, I met the best of talents and developed many friendships. I fought in combat, missed many meals, lost countless hours of sleep (still, 2-3 hours of sleep is all I get). Lost friends, witness injuries, looked in the eyes of and traveled side by side with guys that wanted to do harm to me, my battle buddies and my country. During this time, Ive lost my father, my mother, my grandmother and a few relatives. Ive also created lives, enhanced lives and even saved lives. There are a few things that I would do differently during those years but without those troubles, I would not be the person I am today. Theres a very long list of individuals that I would like to thank for contributing to my successful career as a Soldier, you know who are because you are the ones that know me. Youve sat down with me and shared my deepest thoughts sometimes tears. Just thinking about all of you, brings tears to my eyes now. God has always been there for me and He gets the highest praise. Aside from thanking my mother, my father, my sisters, my brothers and my kids, there are two individuals that were like a father figure to me throughout my career and for that I will forever give thanks and praise; the late CSM John Gathers and the late MSG Roosevelt Dunn. Also Id like to give special thanks to the following, CSM Michael Diggs Sr., CSM Thomas Brown III, SGM John Machin Jr, SGM Anthony Wilson, SGM Kenyatta Mack, LTC Ayo Lawson, MAJ David Bass, CW4 Michael Townsend, CPT Babejohn Kwasniak, SFC Alvin Lundy, and former SSG Debra Camara. Without those mentors, my career would have been cut short long before this day. So here I am today, 20 years and 16 days later, having served my country proudly and honorably, I say Thank you Jesus for the lives youve allowed me to touch. Thanks again to all who have met me and made my career a success, especially the Soldiers. Today, I say good bye to the the uniform but I am a Soldier for life. HOOAH!!! #beallyoucanbeera #20+years #RETIRED #civilianclothes #BLESSED
