Dear Friends , today i had the opportunity of being given something that very dear to my heart, and with this opportunity I would also like to share with you. About two years ago i was enchanted to the short version of this Bedhaya Pangkur in youtube, simply because of the music. The gendhing was simple yet hypnothic, strange and soothing. I was so attracted to it that i started to collect informations about it. One of the most interesting informations i found was, it was heavily influenced by the style of Pre-Islamic Gamelan pattern.Other said it was music dedicated to meditation of Sri Susuhunan. Well , after a while, this afternoon, Mbak Ratih sent me the link to this freshly upoaded full 30+ minutes version of this special dance for us to see. (thanks A LOT to mbak ratih and GELAR for this). For those into batik & costumes , mbak ratih also gave insight information that none other than The maestro Iwan Tirta himself was the man behind this superb presentation. This costumes was the result of long study, resulting to the faithfull reproduction of Javanese high-style Court dance costume.Even the jewellery was real.
