Dear Friends, while living in Palm Springs I and my friends routinely drove to Algodones for dental work. My dentist, Dr Carlos Beltran was superb. Algodones is a pleasant and safe town. So many Americans go across the border to dental, eye ware, and medications that the US had to build a new border crossing to accommodate the numbers. Many people fly in from the east to Yuma, rent a car and stay in a local motel whe the dental work is done. There is now a lovely new casino near the border where you can stay and relax. In 2009 crowns were $227, root canals $100, etc. My oral surgeon worked on me for 45 minutes before he told me that in his best opinion the tooth should be pulled instead of the root canal. He did not want me to pay him the $100. I absolutely insisted, but this is the kind of care I received. Six of us would travel together, some going to different dentists, some the same. Afterwards we would meet at the local fab Mexican restaurant and have margaritas and dinner! Ole!!
