Dear Kissy, I have a 2 month old daughter with a man named John. - TopicsExpress

Dear Kissy, I have a 2 month old daughter with a man named John. John is currently incarcerated for shooting a man, but was sentenced to 3-5 yrs about 2 weeks ago but hes done 8 months so far which factors in. He got a light sentence because the man he shot didnt want to cooperate with the police. Months later I broke up with him after giving birth to our daughter because hes so negative, controlling and disrepectful. I want to b the best role model for our daughter. This man before he got locked up would beat up on me and call me all sorts of names. The relationship had its up and downs. But anyway i have spoken to him via phone and a few times he has threatened to go after ppl i know, he even threatened to shoot whoever i ended up dating. He also has threatened me before. I believe him, i mean he is in there for tht same reason. I am writing u because im not sure if i want my daughter around him. He hasnt changed like he says because hes talking crazy. I dont want my daughter around negativity. He still continues to disrespect me. I let him speak to her by putting him on speaker. But then he said to our daughter that im crazy. I understand shes a baby but what kind of a person does that. Just imagine what he may say wen im not around. I asked my best friend if she cud bring my daughter up there because the visitation hours doesnt fit my schedule she agreed but im skeptical. Wat should i do? -confused ----------------------------- MY RESPONSE: Dear Confused, You need to move, change your number and cut off all contact with him. Hes not a good person and unless he finds God while hes in jail and gets a change of heart, hes definitely not beneficial to you and has no intentions of changing any time soon. Normally its not a good idea to withhold a child from their father, but in this case if you dont protect yourself first you might not be around to even raise your daughter. I would suggest you try to talk to him one last time about being a positive and respectable man that his daughter can look up to. If he doesnt change you just have to let go. You did your best. Maybe in the future things will change.. Good Luck. KISSY
