Dear family and friends, the last month has been such a blur that I have not been able to update fully on what is going on. I will start by sharing excellent news. About an hour ago my surgeon read me the final pathology report and I am cancer free!!!!!!! This all began with a scheduled physical when I was diagnosed as my heart being in atrial fibrillation. This is when the upper part of your heart is beating irregularly. I saw my cardiologist the next day and he asked me admit myself in the hospital so they could try medications that require close monitoring until I converted to a normal rhythm. As part of this process they give you a lot of blood thinners to make sure a clot is not formed because it could have lethal consequences. As a result of these I bled internally. When they checked via a colonoscopy, they found cancer in my intestine. I can not begin to tell you what that feels like. Not only dealing with my heart issues and now the news of cancer was pretty overwhelming. The priority was now to remove the affected area. I spent 8 days in the hospital due to the heart issue, went home and came back for surgery a week later. The surgery lasted 8 hours. I dont even remember the first 5 days of recovery except that there were people in my room that werent really there :) I may be going home later today or tomorrow. The team at Newton Wellesley Hospital has been wonderful. Now I am gaining my strength and thanks to my family and friend support I believe I have weathered the storm. I am getting close to being groovy again. Thank you all for the thoughts and prayers. I will remain forever grateful
