Dear friends... I’ve received a few messages about watermarks - TopicsExpress

Dear friends... I’ve received a few messages about watermarks recently. Here is how I do things. As a convenience to friends and fans, I spend the time to create a entirely separate set of photos for Facebook. They contain a watermark of some sort. Sometimes large, sometimes not so large. It depends on my intentions with the photo. All are meant to be shared easily - as well as meant for easy commentary. They are lower resolution and, in all cases, even on purchased photos, the copyrights remain with me. You may also share from my website (carolinefentonphotography) and, honestly, if you want a “better view” of a photo, that is the best place to look. Those photos are for purchase (prints, downloads, other merchandise). They are protected. These days, too many artistic items are stolen off of Facebook and used inappropriately and without permission. While I don’t want to have to quit creating separate albums on FB, I may do so in the near future. If you want a photo without a watermark of any kind, you may purchase a download at carolinefentonphotography. Otherwise, you may share the FB version all you want. If you purchase a download and intend to use it in social media, publication, club promotions, self promotions or any other similar “public” use, you need to request permission (from the owner, in this case, me). I am a business. An artistic profession, if you will. My fellow photographers are the same. We have spent our entire lives looking at the world with a set of eyes that you, as fans value. We edit our photos with that unique eye. We “donate” a lot of time and spend lots of money pursuing our passion and hopefully giving you a view of your dogs and your world that you don’t otherwise see.... very few of us make a living as photographers. Just thought it was maybe time to clarify the world of the photographer in case there were any questions. Thanks.
