Dear friends of Samburu County! The long awaited project of constructing ladies hostel at Laikipia University Maralal Campus is officially commencing on 24Th March 2014. Ground breaking ceremony will be graced by H.E. Moses Lenoolkulal, Governor of Samburu County and Pof. F.K Lelo, the Vice Chancellor of Laikipia University. Other honorable guests are also expected as we mark a historical moment to make LUMC a fully fledged Samburu University in the very near future. I would like to appreciate key people who have mentored this institution through their commitment and open minded leadership. Top in the list are Hon. Raphael Letimalo, Hon. Simeon Lesrima, Hon. Stephen Lekupe and Mr. M.M. Lenairoshi. These great men set a strong foundation for what is likely to become a giant University of choice characterized by unique faculties such as centre for excellence in arid lands utilization and regional institute for peace studies. Currently, the County Government of Samburu is in the process of finalizing a legal framework that will facilitate close collaboration between Laikipia University and the County with a view to increase mutual benefits centered around community empowerment and nation building. In this regard, those who sow the seed and those who nurtured the plant, those who reap the fruits and those who consume of it shall be identified with the tree.
