Dear friends, only today we learnt that Herbert Liedtke from Sweden has passed away at the age of 98. In our film he was the witty, crazy and melancholic short-distance runner who lost the race against the Italian titan Ugo Sansonetti. At the finish line, Herbert promised - with an ironic smile on his face - to run faster next time but unfortunately that never happened. Shortly after our theatrical premiere which he had enriched by his presence, Herbert suffered a stroke from which he never fully recovered. Now he is reunited with Eva - the love of his life. We are extremely grateful that we had the privilege to meet Herbert and to walk a short way of his long path with him. Rest in peace - and cheers to you!
