Dear members of the ACG community, We are happy to inform you - TopicsExpress

Dear members of the ACG community, We are happy to inform you that, on Thursday November 27, the Greek parliament voted in favor of an amendment that opens the way for the recognition of professional rights of DEREE bachelor’s degrees, based on the College’s New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) accreditation. This legislation constitutes a major step towards correcting a long-time injustice against DEREE graduates, thousands of whom have obtained further and/or terminal degrees from prestigious educational institutions in Europe and the US and have had very successful careers in the private sector. Recognizing the professional rights of DEREE degrees was a matter of principle for all, as DEREE undergraduate programs have been accredited by one of the oldest and most prestigious accrediting organizations in the US, the same one that accredits institutions like HARVARD, YALE, MIT, BROWN, etc. However, kindly be informed that we need to wait for the new law to be officially published in the Government Gazette (FEK), as well as for any explanatory circular (εγκύκλιος) to be issued by the Ministry of Education, before any alumni submit their diplomas for recognition. Additionally, we will need to check what the precise requirements on the part of SAEP will be from now onwards. This process might take more than two weeks. For any further clarifications needed, please contact the Office of Public Affairs and the Office of Development & Alumni Relations at extensions 1107 and 1379.
