Dearest Conservatorium friends, As you all ought to know, I - TopicsExpress

Dearest Conservatorium friends, As you all ought to know, I usually avoid student politics, but two friends of mine have thoroughly inspired me to get involved with this campaign. Firstly Joshua Han, who is running an SRC ticket called Switch For the Con which aims to provide music specific representation on the Council. As we have seen across a range of institutions, a lack of effective representation is one of the factors that makes it very easy for universities to lobotomise arts education, and so it is imperative that people like Josh are empowered to speak on our behalf. Secondly, Kyol Blakeney, who is not only a remarkable and prolific activist, but thoroughly committed to what he can do to engage students and represent their interests. Kyols campaign for president of the SRC is motivated not by career goals, but by an indefatigable commitment to meaningful change. He is affable, experienced, humble and actively engaged with students, and if elected will be a president without a party allegiance. I urge all of you to get out and engage with your Representative Council today, from 12 til 2 when voting is open at The Con, because in the current political climate it is imperative that we are empowered and represented, particularly within the arts.
