Dearly Beloved, “And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.” Matt. 6:12. The greatest prayer blocker for believers is the sin of unforgiveness. No matter who has wronged you, no matter the gravity of the offense, no matter how many times this has occurred and even if the individual is arrogant and will not come to apologize; you are to go to him/her, show the person the wrong done and forgive unconditionally. This is exactly what Jesus Christ did for you and He wants you to do the same to others. For the avoidance of doubt, Jesus reiterated the issue in vs 14 & 15: “For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.” Peter was not pleased with this command and wanted to know when “enough is enough”. Jesus told him: “No limit”. Then He gave the parable of the unmerciful servant in Matt. 18:21-35 and concluded: “This is how my heavenly Father will treat each of you unless you forgive your brother from your heart.” Wow! For a believer, forgiveness then is not optional but a MUST. Is there anyone that you must forgive today? Do it right away else your prayers will be in vain.
