Death always hurts my heart. I saw a pigeon with a broken leg(?) - TopicsExpress

Death always hurts my heart. I saw a pigeon with a broken leg(?) standing under our bird feeder today. It ate some of the many seeds that fall from the sparrow above. Hours later I sat outside to eat, only to see a neighbors cat zip past me and pounce on the pigeon. I yelled (why? Im not sure; this outcome was in some way inevitable to a damaged bird) to no avail. The cat stiffened his neck, held up his prey and ran off, bow-legged, straddling. It was simply nature doing what nature does. Something like this happens millions and billions of times every single day in our fields and farms, in China and Africa and in the rain forests and the oceans. *The food chain.* Still, it stung. And now, 2 hours later, it still does. Humans have morals we try to impose on Nature. They dont often fit. Acceptance of reality (in this case of Natures ways) is not always easy.
