December 11 THE WORD WILL DO YOU GOOD This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. Joshua 1:8 The Lord without mincing words told Joshua how to succeed in the assignment given to him. After the demise of Moses (Joshua’s predecessor) who was a great leader by all standards, he needed to lead the children of Israel to the promise land. He needed help from the Lord to accomplish this huge task that was before him, considering the fact that the people he was leading were stiff-necked (obstinate). God from the beginning gave Joshua the key to prosper in all that was committed to him. He was to have the right attitude towards the word of God, by keeping the word in his mouth continually. He was instructed on how to do this: he was to meditate on the word day and night; which would invariably cause him to observe to do all that was written in the book of the law. And the results would be that he would prosper and deal wisely in the affairs of life. This has not changed today because Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever (Heb 13:8). If you pay attention to the word of God by meditating in it day and night, you will prosper beyond your wildest imagination. The word of God has the ability to make you prosper in all you set out to do. Psalm 1:1-3 says “Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper” Whatever he does prospers because he meditates on the word day and night. Give rapt attention to the word and watch your life grow from glory to glory. Meditation on the word will position you correctly for the supernatural; accomplishing feats by the energy of the Spirit. Living purposefully and influencing others positively. Have a right attitude towards the word; the word will do you good. Prayer The word of the Lord is the lamp unto my path and light to my feet.
