In Gaelic, the name Kevin means-Attractive, boy did they hit that one on the head. Kevin was both attractive on the outside as well as on the inside. Kevin had a smile that would light up the room as soon as he walked in. Teammates looked up to him for his play on the ice or on the pitch, but also for his antics and camaraderie before and after a game..Kevin was just being Kevin... Kevin touched everyone he came in contact with in a special way. Kevin always had a special place in his heart for the underdog. Always willing to pull for and help out the freshman hockey player or the first year rugby player having a hard time on the pitch. Between costs for equipment, participation, travel, camps and clinics, many families simply cannot afford to allow their children to keep playing or even start playing at a competitive level for their age. KJMYSF scholarships for young athletes vary from beginners to the highest level a 19 year old can attain. There is a range of sponsorship available. Some awards can be large amounts to children who show significant promise in a particular sport. In the majority of instances, the purpose of a KJMYSF scholarship is for children to participate in structured athletics that might not otherwise be affordable for economic reasons. APPLICATION In most cases, the receiving family will have to exhibit proof of financial need when applying for a scholarship. There are various ways to demonstrate need, such as but not limited to receiving Medicaid, caring for foster children, reciving food stamps or being enrolled in a free or reduced cost school lunch program. In some cases, parents may also have to present a letter of recommendation to apply. CONSIDERATIONS It is important for parents and caregivers to realize that KJMYSF scholarships are very different from scholarships for college. With a youth scholarship, awards are most often based on financial need and the desire to participate and do not always take a students athletic ability totaly into account. THE PROCESS The Foundations board of directors will review each financial aid application on an individual basis. Please print, fill-out and mail your application to the address provided on the bottom of the form. You will be notified either by mail or email of the boards decision on your child. If additional information is needed you will be contacted by a board member. Please provide any additional information or comments with your application that you may find helpful in securing a scholarship for your child.
