December 3, 2014 Good morning. Wet weather ahead of us. Cool days with below normal temperatures for daytime highs and perhaps above normal temperatures at night. This is because of cloud cover and precipitation over the coming days. By Sunday morning most locations will have picked up 0.75-1.25 of rain with pockets of greater than 1.25. A brief period of sleet or freezing rain is possible late tonight - this would mainly be over parts of southeast MO and southwest IL. At this time it appears far southern IL and western KY would only see a brief window of opportunity for this to happen. Remember that it only takes a hint of freezing rain or drizzle to cause problems. Monitor updates. I will update this evening. Right now it appears impacts would be minimal. Keep in mind, however, that even a few hours of freezing drizzle or freezing light rain can cause problems on roads. Again, appears the greatest risk of this would be the Missouri Ozarks and then into southwest Illinois - perhaps Randolph, Perry, and Jackson Counties. Temperatures do dip below freezing elsewhere in southern IL for a brief period of time. This would be between 1/2/3 am and 7 am tomorrow morning. Precipitation is forecast to be scattered. The bigger picture is widespread rain by Thursday night into Saturday morning. Blog has been updated - had a long day on Tuesday. I didnt fill in the long range. I will probably throw an update into the blog between 4 pm and 7 pm this evening. Models have been useless in the long range (of late). They keep showing warm warm warm and we keep ending up with cool cool cold. Could be the same for next week. Models are showing lots of warm weather. Not sold on those solutions (not yet at least). Remember these same models show lots of warm weather this week (we see how that worked out) There is a tug of war going on in model land.
