Delta LG poll: PDP wins 2 more chairmanship seats Chairmanship candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) were yesterday declared winners of the fresh council election for Ndokwa East and the run-off election for Ethiope East areas of the state. With the result, the party had cleared the chairmanship seats for the 25 councils in the state, because the Delta State Independent Electoral Commission (DSIEC) had earlier declared the party’s candidates winners in 23 councils after the October 25 poll. Returning Officers for the two councils took turns to declare the results in the presence of DSIEC Chairman, Moses Ogbe, and other members of the electoral body at the commission’s headquarters in Asaba. In Ethiope East, where the council election was declared inconclusive, the Returning Officer, Prof. Sunday Akparobi, announced the return of Mrs. Faith Majemite as winner having scored 28,828 votes. Announcing the results for Ndokwa East, where election was fully conducted, the Returning Officer, Prof. Timi Akporunor, said Mrs. Nkechi Chukwurah of the PDP polled 24,003 votes to emerge winner. Chairman of DSIEC, Mr. Ogbe, in a brief remark, decried the violence that characterized the election in some areas and appealed for a change of attitude from politicians.
