Desert Overture Live Cultural Entertainment, Inc. (DOLCE) was formed in May of 2010 by people who recognized the unique needs of a wind ensemble operating within the LGBT community. They dedicated the organization to providing entertainment and serving as a voice of the LGBT community. Just as important, though, is the support this organization has provided to its members. I have seen lifelong friendships and relationships develop within the band; Ive seen it pull people out of depression; Ive seen people get full-time and part-time jobs from the connections they made in the group; Ive seen young, scared kids who were questioning their orientation become comfortable with who they are by being around wonderful people of all orientations coming together to make music and have fun together. This band feeds my soul, as it does for so many other people. Today is #givingtuesday!
