Devotional--Growing in Faith By Richard Moser, Jr. 1 Thessalonians 4:1--Finally, brothers, we instructed you how to live in order to please God, as in fact you are living. Now we ask you and urge you in the Lord Jesus to do this more and more. (NIV) The church in Thessalonica was founded by Paul and Silas, during one of their missionary journeys. The two were forced to flee, due to Jewish opposition. Paul was concerned about the young church in Thessalonica, and wished to encourage them. Word had reached Paul that they were being faithful to Jesus. He wrote to encourage them further. He urged them to continue and grow in their faith. In our Christian walk, we sometimes need encouragement to continue and, in fact, to grow in our faith. Our path is frequently strewn with boulders and valleys. The Christian life is not smooth and easy. We need to keep our eyes on Jesus - especially when we face difficulties. We can follow Pauls instructions to continue growing in our faith, as we strive to follow Jesus more and more every day.
