Devotional | March 17, 2014 | The kingdom is like a mustard seed | Matthew 13:31 Who doesnt like mustard on hot dogs, bratwurst, sausages, and hamburgers? Mustard is a spicy condiment we add to our foods. A mustard seed is the tiniest of seeds, but it grows into a large tree. Yellow mustard is found to have wonderful properties. It has protein, fiber, and vitamins (Vitamin C, and the B complex). Mustard is also rich in several minerals that are important for good health. Potassium allows the body to have good digestive health, and helps with sending electric signals to the brain. It also helps the heart to have a steady heartbeat. Phosphorus helps to build strong teeth and bones. Arent we, as Christians, the kingdom? Like a mustard seed, which will grow into a strong tree shouldnt we be growing into strong supporters of the kingdom? Arent we to be healthy in body, mind and spirit? Arent we to be helpful and kind to others? Arent we to manifest the fruit of the Spirit - goodness, righteousness, truth, joy, gentleness, peace, love, kindness and humility? For the kingdom to truly come, it takes all of us as we submit in obedience to the Father. We are becoming more like Jesus, if we allow Him to work in us. God grows in us what He wants us to be. In Philippians 1:6, we are told that God will complete this great work in us if we allow Him. God will not be denied. He has such a longing for our perfection that nothing can or will remain an obstacle until He has finished the work He began.
