Devotional Reading for: 7/5/2013 Are You Afraid of Judgment Day? For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ. 2 Corinthians 5:10 I remember talking to one of my shut-in members about Judgment Day. When I mentioned that Jesus was coming to judge all people, she became concerned and said she was surprised to learn that believers in Christ will also be judged. I got the impression she was fearful of Judgment Day. God’s Word clearly states that everyone will be judged—all who have died as well as all who are alive when Jesus returns on the Last Day. “Before Him will be gathered all the nations, and He will separate people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats” (Matthew 25:32). We need not dread Judgment Day, for our Lord and Savior, our Good Shepherd, will come on that unknown day to take us to Himself in heaven for eternity! It will be the happiest day of our lives! The judge will be Jesus Christ, who suffered, died, and rose for us to make us sons and daughters of God for time and eternity. The U.S. Coast Guard’s motto is Semper Paratus (Latin for “Always Prepared”). Let it be our daily motto, for none of us knows when we will die or when Judgment Day will come. May we always and only trust in Jesus alone for our salvation now and forever. Come, Lord Jesus! Amen.
