Diary of an OTTB: Royal Bid. So the end of a chapter and a new one begins. I took Royal Bid because I wanted to prove a point. I felt that the reasons given for her declining performance could be solved with good schooling and getting her balanced. I kept her for 2 months, schooled her changed her bit, taught her some polo and sent her back to racing. We raced her, the good news was that all the issues I tried to fix were and she finished in the middle of the field But there was bad news, the reason she didnt do better is in the picture. She really couldnt gallop, she was sore. Although she was never lame she swelled on the inside of her foreleg behind the pastern. She came home today and is now with my other horses in the new stables at crocodile creek polo. Tomorrow my vet will come and give me a prognosis. I hope that the damage is not too severe and that she will be able to play after a bit of a rest. Was great to see her again, behaving like she had never left, back with her mates, back at home, cuddled with me and ate her feed, my three chestnuts next to each other. She is in the middle. I hope I didnt hurt her to badly. She is such a sweetheart. To me she is a very special girl.
