Did you see a man attempt to steal a bag from a woman in Clifton? It happened at around 10.20am on Monday (22 July 2013) in Green Lane, near its junction with Wheatacre Road. The 52-year-old victim was walking towards Southchurch Drive when the man tried to grab her handbag from her shoulder. When she resisted he pushed her to the ground. When a passer-by intervened, the attacker fled into Wheatacre Road empty-handed. He left his victim shaken by the ordeal but uninjured. He is white, aged in his 30s and of medium build. He had shaved dark hair and was wearing dark-coloured clothing. Detective Constable Parminder Dhillon, of the Meadows CID, said: “This was a cowardly attack. The intervention by the passer-by no doubt prevented the bag from being stolen and potentially avoided any injury. “We believe that the person who carried out the attack lives locally and may have been loitering in the area beforehand. “If you saw the incident or know who is responsible please call us.” If you have any information contact Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident 233 of 22 July 2013, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
