🔺👉🌾Dilawar Mir resigns as PDP Gen Secy Like our official news paper page facebook/jknn.net facebook/shaharbeentimes Says can contest upcoming polls Days after a trial court awarded him three years imprisonment in a two-decade old corruption case, senior Peoples Democratic Party leader Mohd Dilwar Mir Wednesday said he has submitted his resignation as the party’s general secretary. “Even though the facts and law are in my favour, I have decided to set a high moral standard in my public life and submitted my resignation to the President of the Party,” Mir said in a statement issued to the press. Calling the reports carried in a section of press, which said that he can’t contest the upcoming polls, as legally untenable, Mir said: “The sentence against me has been stayed till January 2nd 2015 and there is no legal impediment if I decide to contest the forthcoming elections.” He added that there was no allegation against him which said that he has committed any wrong doing as a public servant. “When the contract was awarded to me, I was neither a Minister nor a MLA. I was a private citizen and had a fundamental right to do business,” he said. “Also, the court has noted and accepted the fact that as a public servant, I have had impeccable and clean record.”
