Director Of Transportation & Fleet Maintenance QUALIFICATIONS • Bachelor’s degree required from an accredited university in a directly related field (Master’s degree preferred) • Eight (8) years of directly related experience preferred, including three (3) years of supervisory experience • Demonstrated knowledge as it relates to the maintenance and operations of vehicles, maintenance equipment, and other maintenance activities • Demonstrated knowledge and experience related to the educational process and developmental stages of students • Demonstrated knowledge of laws and regulations pertaining to school bus safety and operation • Demonstrated knowledge of the principles of pupil management and discipline • Demonstrated ability to direct and manage operations of a large fleet of vehicles • Demonstrated knowledge of energy management and vehicle repair and maintenance • Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to represent Dallas ISD internally and externally • Ability to speak Spanish is a plus BASIC FUNCTIONS • Manage, coordinate, and direct the pupil transportation program and services for regular and special education students • Provide oversight and management of the District’s fleet maintenance operations, including vehicles, small equipment repair, and grounds equipment • Develop and monitor routes; evaluate the District’s student transportation delivery system on a daily basis • Ensure transportation operations are supportive of the instructional goals and objectives of the District • Oversee the maintenance of all District transportation vehicles • Develop and implement Community Educational Planner (CEP) routes from home to school for students who have been placed in alternative schools • Receive invoices for extra-curricular activities; record and disperse to each school and/or department within 48 hours for payment to Dallas County Schools • Prepare parent private transportation reimbursement documentation for reimbursement from Dallas County Schools through the Texas Education Agency • Develop and implement staff development information for teachers, principals, and administrators as it relates to student transportation • Attend parent conferences at schools where students are involved in disciplinary problems while riding school buses • Attend community meetings related to student transportation needs • Coordinate scheduled safety meetings with bus drivers • Manage a program of preventative maintenance to ensure safety • Manage the timely filing of all transportation forms with the proper agency • Analyze the condition of buses and make recommendations for the purchase of additional or replacement buses • Prepare a contingency plan for transporting students when mechanical breakdowns occur • Consult with government agencies to ensure compliance with state and federal procedures and mandates • Prepare and administer the annual budget for student transportation • Act as the primary contact for response to calls from campuses and facilities, channeling concerns to appropriate divisions, and following up with status and resolution Salary - commensurate with education and experience Samantha Jacoby BridgeWork Partners 214-306-8642 (o) 972-754-9817 (m) 469-208-7766 (f) Connecting People, Resources, Solutions 2014 Supplier of the Year, Class II DFW Minority Supplier Development Council 2013 Top 500 Emerging Businesses in the U.
