Discovering a new dream after you have lost someone or something - TopicsExpress

Discovering a new dream after you have lost someone or something beloved to you is painful. The darkness of dreamless-ness sometimes feels safer than attempting to find a new dream. The blackness nestles itself into your being, it becomes almost comfortable to not dream. It becomes comfortable to be stuck because the darkness reminds you that you once had something beautiful and full of light. But darkness cannot be our home. Our hearts werent made to live without the light of hope and faith and dreams. Like trees, our hearts need light to grow and survive. They need to have the strength of roots so that they do not fall in the midst of storms. They need to be watered by constant remembrance and faith. No, the darkness - though sometimes comfortable - cannot be a home for us. I was reminded recently that there is no end with beautiful dreams. All the duas that were made for a dream to come to fruition, for happiness and comfort and stability...none of that is ever really gone. Allah (swt) in His ultimate Wisdom decrees the losses in our lives. He decrees that we must lose something in this world - wealth, lives, safety. It is the nature of this existence. When we lose our dreams, the same ones we prayed for all those days, months, and years, the same ones we fought to accomplish and the same ones we stayed up during nights to beg Him for - those dreams are never lost. The Prophet Muhammad (saw) said that duas are answered by Allah (swt) in one of three ways: 1. He gives you what you ask for 2. He wards off a harm that would have otherwise afflicted you 3. The unanswered duas are saved gifts, awaiting you in the next life. And surely, the third is the best answer to any dua. Even if a dream has gone, your prayers for that dream are never lost. Far be it from Allah, the All-Knowing to forget what you have asked, even if you yourself forget as time passes. Perhaps Allah (swt) is saving those precious, fervently uttered supplications for you in paradise. How Merciful a Lord to not forget, and to grant us hope in the darkness of lost dreams. And your Lord says, ‘Call upon Me; I will respond to you (40:60).
