Do you agree with statement I am a regular visitor to Hospital - TopicsExpress

Do you agree with statement I am a regular visitor to Hospital Kuala Lumpur (HKL) by the virtue that my spouse works as a doctor in the hospital and my mother was recently admitted for the duration of 6 weeks to complete the radiotherapy cycles for her brain tumour (Gliosarcoma WHO Grade 4). Director, it is appalling to note that the condition in HKL is deteriorating by the day and it seems that your office has done very little to improve the current state of our dear HKL. I listed herewith the bad experience that many, if not all, of your patients and visitors have at HKL. In case of ideas are needed, I also offer the solutions required to improve the current state of your hospital. Bad road conditions The realignment of cable and piping underneath the road network within HKL for the construction of new building and car park 2 years ago resulted in a road that is full of potholes and uneven surfaces, and very little has improved since. Further, due to lack of enforcement, nonchalant parking by visitors (especially alongside the narrow road leading to the lobby of Institute Saraf Tunku Abdul Rahman) and illegal contraflow by motorcyclists on one-way streets (mostly are staff of HKL judging by the white overall uniform) has seriously exacerbated traffic flow. Indeed, the resurfacing of road within HKL is long due and I suggest your office strictly enforce road traffic rules within HKL by optimising the utilisation of HKLs auxiliary police forces. You should also increase staff awareness to fully comply with traffic rule through stern memos and disciplinary action on traffic offenders. Useless auxiliary police personnel It seems that the service of some auxiliary police personnel is limited to sitting and playing with their mobile phones. It is not rare that you see a husband struggling to put his wife on a wheelchair while the auxiliary police personnel remained firmly seated using his mobile. Many times during my evening visits to the radiotherapy ward, I encountered police personnel smoking right outside the entrance to the oncology and radiotherapy building where many patients are also waiting for taxi. Counter-intuitive isnt it? To overcome this, the hospital should establish a mechanism to ensure that stern disciplinary action will be taken against security personnel that are found to be shirking in their duties and smoking within the hospital compound. Bad air quality in ward Initially my mother was admitted to Ward RT2C. Despite being located next to the water tower construction site, I was very surprised that this ward remained an open air ward, whereby the noise, smoke and dust from the nearby construction would surely not provide a good and conducive environment for patients to rest after their respective gruesome chemotherapy and adjuvant radiotherapy treatments. It is sad to note that the hospital management has done very little to this ward despite the construction which began more than 6 months ago. In this regard, a simple upgrade is very much critical, whereby the windows should be sealed and air-conditioning installed. If this can be done at single bedded and four-bedded rooms, I dont see why air quality should be different for lower class wards. Director, I hope that your office will take note of the above complaints and heed the suggestions above in providing the best value to taxpayers’ money, lest the state of HKL remain as third world.
