Do you believe God loves you? That he cares about you? He does. Something AMAZING happened today. I have to be vague with some details due to my work. A few weeks ago I took care of a patient who had some tests done. I really felt drawn to her. To the point that when I took her out to her car I gave her a hug. Dont usually do that. She was worried about her tests and the possibility of cancer. I spoke a bit to her about my mom at the time and the struggle we were going through with her cancer and our hope. This patient had to come back today for more tests. After her procedure she was getting dressed and I had this very strong impression to ask her if I could pray for her. I dont know if Ive ever done that straight out before. I will talk about God if a patient brings it up, or in other subtle ways mention things. But today this impression was strong. To the point I knew I couldnt ignore it. I argued with myself, asked myself if I was making this feeling up, and decided it didnt matter anyway I was going to do it. So I was pushing her out to the front of the department and she was chatting away and I was thinking lady, you gotta be quiet for a minute so I can ask you if I can pray for you...thats how strong the feeling was now. Finally she finished her sentence and I just said...Mam do you mind if I put you on my own little personal prayer list? I dont usually ask that but I really feel drawn to you. I have since I met you last time. She said that would be great. Ive been thinking about your mom and she must be a fine lady to raise such a great son. (poor lady, must have been the medicine I gave her). But I mentioned my mom just a bit and that she had worked her whole life serving people as a nurse. The lady asked me her name as she was getting into her car now, and I told her Pam Barrett. She stopped for a moment and looked at me funny and said. Are you related to Alvie Barrett? I told her that was my grandpa. She said He taught me sunday school growing up in Albuquerque New Mexico. I went to church with your dad Bill Barrett. I exclaimed...youre a church member. (dont know if she still is now or not but that doesnt matter) Now I know why I was so drawn to you to pray for you. Wow!! we just stood there looking at each other for a minute and then she gave me a big hug. As she drove away I had this incredible sense of Gods love for her. And the thought came maybe she needed to know that He loved her and was aware of her. Maybe shes getting ready to go through some serious stuff. I think she is. Im so glad I asked her and Ive been amazed the rest of the day. God is a loving Father and so intimately aware of His children. He will never forsake them.
