Do you do anything different on your blog in the lead up to the Christmas and the New Year? On dPS its our biggest couple of weeks of the year on a number of fronts. 1. I put a fair bit of time into preparing best of lists for products that might interest our readers on Amazon which we promote as affiliates. This pays off well (eg. digital-photography-school/30-popular-dslr-lenses-readers/) 2. We run our 12 days of Christmas promotion which is essentially 12 days of deals. We do a deal per day - theyre a combination of discounts on our own products as well as affiliate products. It involves emailing our list every day, blog posts for each deal and a whole heap of social. LOADS of work. Heres that promo if youre curious: digital-photography-school/12days/ 3. We do a few Christmasy/New Years related posts. These are the kinds of posts we run every year on how to stuff that relates to the season. And of course theres the normal day to day blogging. New tutorials every day (that dont relate to the season at all), social etc. We try to keep all this going out as normal so as to not get too overtaken by the seasonal stuff.
