Do you ever wonder about the people who get chosen to provide commentary on the rest of us? I do. Every day, it seems. Heres what somebody needs to tell this duo: Advertising kills do NOT work as advertisers dream they could/would/should/will. They just simply dont. Not to anybody with a hint of a brain and still conscious enough to be curmudgeonly on purpose. I make a game out of seeing how advertisers use my information to gig me . . . just as Ive done with ads in my regular (non-internet life): and I keep a list. It used to be a dont-buy-from-for-a-year list, then it morphed into a never-buy-from list and now its just a green-sheeted list of the few socially and environmentally responsible companies with whom I am happy to do business. No one on my list has ever targeted me. (They would get dropped from the list for doing that.) Ive sought THEM out at moments when I was totally pissed off at some dreck-filled ad campaign (such as the speaker here is suggesting or the ones that FB and Google use). This road still runs both ways, Id like to say to the ad-predators, and it will as long as Im here.
