Do you feel like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde? Some Muslims during the day time of Ramadan are pious and seem to fear Allah. The moment the sun sets, they are transformed to a different creature where everything goes! In some so called Islamic countries, they have Ramadan tents that has nothing related to Ramadan! Smoking, belly dancing and watching al haram stuff on large TV screens are among the things that take place there. These people don’t know what Ramadan is all about. The Prophet salla Allahu alaihi wa sallam said: there are people who fast and only gain hunger and thirst. And he also says: whosoever doesn’t abandon testifying and saying falsehood and ignorance, Allah doesn’t need him to refrain from drinking and fasting. The main reason for fasting is mentioned in the Quran where Allah says: “O you who believe! Fasting is prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you, that you may become Al-Muttaqun.”. Therefore, Allah prescribed fasting of Ramadan so that we may reach the degree of piety. Stop and think! Are you suffering from schizophrenia in Ramadan? Do you achieve this level when fasting or not? Try your best to be whole and worship Allah as He wants you to, day as well as night.
