Do you know how many hybrids Toyota has sold worldwide since - TopicsExpress

Do you know how many hybrids Toyota has sold worldwide since introducing Prius in Japan in 1997? Take a second to think about it. Ok, ready? It’s a lot. It’s 7 million. That’s about 500,000 more than the combined population of Rhode Island, Montana, Delaware, North Dakota, South Dakota, Alaska, Vermont and Wyoming. In fact, if Toyota’s hybrids were people, and they made up their own country, it would be the 103rd largest country in the world. They’d be called Priusland, with a population of about 16,000 more than Paraguay, and 1.5 million more than Finland. And Priusland would certainly be a global leader on the environment. And, while Prius has become synonymous with the term “hybrid” (like Kleenex and Band-Aid), Toyota’s 7 million hybrids include versions of Camry, Avalon, and Highlander, along with Lexus hybrids like CT, RX and GS. Since Prius’ debut, the technology has soared. Toyota’s hybrid sales just surpassed the 6 million mark in January, and the 3 million mark in 2011.
