Doctor Boxalls old heritage listed house at 153 Stirling Street is currently for sale, but in the meantime, the owners would love to rent it out. Today I met with them and was shown through this 1907 house, built by Bunburys famous Frederick Walter Steer. FW Steer is considered one of our most important architects. He designed our Lyric Theatre, Carrs Chemist, the Sailors Rest, Bishopscourt, the Anglican Church in Boyanup, and the St Josephs School, just to name a mere few. Bron and Mick Caddy have spent some time renovating this special part of our history, and would love to see it sold to someone who will do it justice. A door to the right of the front porch is still there today, leading to what was Dr Boxalls surgery. I was sad to hear that heritage laws mean that they are not allowed to build a balocony on the top floor to appreciate the beautiful inlet views, but the scene from the front porch and upper windows is breathtaking.
