Done Deal: Chelsea Officially Confirm £18m Deal to Sign German International Andre Schurrle by The Newshound June 13th, 2013 Comments 7 Schurrle Deal Complete Bayer Leverkusen forward on his way to Stamford Bridge. Chelsea have officially confirmed they have reached agreement with Bayer Leverkusen to sign adaptable forward Andre Schurrle. There has been mounting speculation that the 22 year old would finally complete a move to join the West London club, though talk of the inclusion of Belgian youngster Kevin de Bruyne as part of any deal appears to have amounted to nothing. The Daily Mail claim the German international has cost the Blues £18m and will become the first signing of Jose Mourinho’s second spell in charge of the Stamford Bridge side. Schurrle enjoyed an excellent season at the BayArena last term, scoring 11 goals and providing seven assists to help his side secure an all important Champions League berth. The former Mainz man is a regular in Joachim Low’s national team set-up and will offer Mourinho a new option to beef up an attack that could well undergo a great many changes this summer. Andre Schurrle is set for a medical and will in due course sit down to discuss personal terms. Such a move could well bring into question the Chelsea futures of both Fernando Torres and Demba Ba, both of whom didn’t enjoy the best of times in 2012/13 and could well see further competition for striking spots in the form of additional signings.
