Don’s Daily Parable-It’s A Thing of Beauty-7/5/2013 I was using my pressure washer today to clean my driveway and sidewalk. It was pretty nasty looking from mildew and from the different things that our Chinese Tallow tree drops during the year. I like pressure washing, even though it’s hard on my back and shoulder. I really like waving that wand back and forth, seeing the black, grungy stuff wash off and reveal the bright, white concrete. I get pleasure out of seeing it clean. When I worked for ExxonMobil, these contract painters would be preparing the storage tanks for painting and they would be sandblasting them. I always like watching them do that, for the same reason. I liked seeing the old, cheesy looking paint come off and reveal the clean steel beneath. Most people like to keep their cars clean. I know I do. I can’t stand for it to be dirty. I like looking down the hood from the inside of the car and see it shine. I’m just one of those people who are like that. You see people who never wash their cars or trucks. I mean, since they were new, they have never been washed. The same goes for people’s homes, both inside and out. You know, there are Christians like that. I know there have been times when I have been doing something that is displeasing to the Lord, and not repenting of it or asking forgiveness for it. Non-Christians can’t be expected to recognize their sin, in most cases. They think what they are doing is OK, unless their parents raised them differently. You see, the Holy Spirit is the one who convicts of sin, and He helps us to overcome it. All a Christian has to do is submit to the Holy Spirit when He’s speaking to you. Then, it’s your place to repent, ask forgiveness, and try, with the Holy Spirit’s help, never to do that thing again. Don’t you like watching that dirt and grime come off, and see the snow white coming through? It’s a thing of beauty. God bless you.
