Don’s Daily Parable-I’m Just Lookin’-8/25/2013 Sometimes when you go to a department store, a car dealership, or any type of store, you just want to look around. You really don’t have anything in mind, you just want to see if there’s anything that interests you. It’s like you might know what you want when you see it. I’m sure that phrase is probably one of the most dreaded ones in the business world. You walk in a store and hopefully someone will see you come in and want to make a sale. They usually say, “May I help you?”, or “Can I help you find something”? Then you usually respond, “No, thanks. I’m just looking”. In most cases, you like to have someone greet you like that. It lets you know that they are concerned with the customer and care about whether you buy anything or not. They also want to make sure that you can find whatever you are looking for. To be honest, that scenario is getting very scarce nowadays. Young folks in the workplace just want to get paid for working. They really don’t care anything about the customer at all. On the other hand, there are times when you are looking for something specific, but don’t know much about it. In that case, it’s helpful to find a clerk who knows something about the product and can help this customer. You know, there are people all over the world, and yes, all over Baytown who are looking for something. They are not looking in a store. They are looking for an example of something that’s real in this world. They have seen enough of hypocrites and preachers on TV, even though there are some very good ones. People are spiritual creations. They are looking for something spiritual. Can you help them? Do you even respond when they come around you searching? Are you ready to respond when someone throws a comment out there? You don’t have to know how your product was made, you just know how it works for you. So, be ready when someone says, “I’m just lookin’”. God bless you.
