Don’s Daily Parable-On the Right Track-9/2/2013 A few of you may remember when the Ford Model T and other cars like it first came out. There were no roads, to speak of. There were a few highways, but mostly just dirt roads were all that could be found. That dirt became mud when it would rain. There would be deep ruts after a while from cars running down the roads. I’m sure that after a while, it got to where the driver would hardly have to steer the car while it was driving in those ruts. Have you ever ridden on a train or a subway? I have. You know, the train doesn’t have too much choice as to the direction that it goes. Its direction is mandated by the train tracks that have already been laid out in front of it. Whoever built the tracks knew what the destination was to be and built the railroad tracks to take the shortest route to that destination. Some people think that God has it in for them. They don’t think that God has their best interest in mind. They blame Him for everything bad that happens to them. Nothing could be farther from the truth. God loves His creation. He cares about each one of them. He has designed a path, or track if you will, for each of us which leads to joy, happiness, peace,, and ultimately eternal life in Heaven with Him. The problem begins when, because of the free will that God has given us, we think we know better than God. We think our ways are much better than God’s ways, and we want to veer out of those mud ruts, or the train wants to derail because it knows a shorter route. I always think of Jeremiah 29:11, which says, “I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you…”. God sees what’s going to happen to us down the road. He knows the outcome of things that we desire to do. We must trust Him and stay on the path that He has put us on. We must stay on the right track. God bless you.
