Don’t Err, My Beloved Friend Err: To make a mistake, or to sin. - TopicsExpress

Don’t Err, My Beloved Friend Err: To make a mistake, or to sin. Ignorance. "Err" is not used today in everyday conversation (other than making the sound "errrrr") but the word can be found in the bible James 1:16 Do not err, my beloved brethren. To err is to wander, go astray or make a mistake. Do you think this scripture could also show us God’s heart when one of His children wander? One can almost hear the plea of a loving heavenly Father, saying: “Where are you?” When Adam and Eve sinned and hid themselves, didn’t they hear the voice of the Lord in the cool of the day: “Where art thou?” Saul realized he had played the fool when David saved his life. Saul erred when his jealousy became as cruel as the grave. When Job’s accusing friends failed to speak comforting words of assurance, Job said that his error remained with himself. He said it was his own concern and continued to bemoan himself. Let’s not be like any one of these men. Don’t wander from the truth. One can err in their heart as well as in their mind. Don’t err or let yourself go astray or you’ll “miss the mark of salvation.” Repent quickly whether you erred ignorantly or willfully. We err when we trust in uncertain riches and not in Jesus Christ. We err when we allow ourselves to be allured by profane and vain babblings out of the mouths of opposers of the Gospel. Guard your heart with all diligence and put away any offensive habits. One can’t help but err if they persist in being stubborn or perverse. When you put Christ to an open shame through flagrant acts of disobedience you crucify Him afresh. Today as you examine yourself, repent quickly, if need be. He’ll show you how and when you let yourself be drawn away of your own lust and enticed. Humility opens the door to Christ’s compassion. Repentance will keep that lust from conceiving and bringing forth sin. You’ll be relieved, knowing that you’ve been delivered from death – separation from God is spiritual death. Every disciple of Christ should emulate His manner of dealing with satan’s allurements... Matthew 4:8-10 says: “Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them; And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me. Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.” So do not err, my sister, my brother, but walk in the light, fellowship with the Body of Christ, and let joy well up within and refill you afresh.
