Since the days of the Ethiopian student movement, it has become fashionable to lambast Menelik and his legacy. With the emergence of TPLF as a ruling party in Ethiopia, the criminalization of the Amara ethnic group has taken on an institutional form. Since its seizure of power, the TPLF regime has subjected the Amara ethnic group to an incessant barrage of psychological demonization that finally resulted in the gruesome ethnic cleansing underway in Benishangul and Gura Ferda, Ogaden, etc. In the Diaspora, it has become fashionable to accomodate and promote forces like OLF which are committed to the break-up of Ethiopia (the continued effort of groups like Ginbot 7 & its mouthpiece ESAT come to mind with their repeated efforts to curry favour with OLF factions). The extreme examples of this process have recently been witnessed in USA with the public utterances of an OLF cadre by the name of Jawar Mohammed (a man who has repeatedly failed to engage me in debate about the nonsensical narrative and venomous propaganda he and his organisation have been spreading). Similar things are repeated, albeit, in a different geographical location i.e. in South Africa where at a public meeting in Johannesburg, an upstart OLF cadre was introduced by Dr. Minga Negash.. This young OLF cadre later used the podium to disfigure Menelik & Ethiopia as you will see in this video footage I have herewith enclosed. I have not seen any one challenging this small Oromo ethno-nationalist who has been oozing hatred - something at which he is adept like all ethno-nationalists that have embarked on the revision of Ethiopian history. It sad that the Ethiopian intellectuals whose photos was posted on Ethiomedia to emphasize the importance of the public meeting, were not seen challenging this small guy whose rhetoric is bereft of any logic or substance nor stand close scrutiny. If these Ethiopian intellectuals have said anything to challenge this guy, let them provide us with the video footage. Curiously, one of the guest speakers was Dima Negewo, the senior OLF cadre who in September 1990 announced that the aim of his organisation OLF is to liberate Oromia and declare its independence by entering Finfine (Addis Abeba). Dima uttered this at a public meeting in the German town of Mullheim in September 1990 where I was present. When he was asked, what will happen to the non-Oromos living in what he calls Finfine (AA), he said that OLF will open a corridor and let them leave Finfne or Addis Abeba. A year after this public utterance, Dima came to Holland (Rotterdam city) as the Ethiopian minister of information in October 1991. At that meeting, I raised my hand and reminded him what he said in Germany just a year ago. Dima denied having said that but added that he remembers that somebody said it. This was a big lie and this liar has been masquerading as a statesman by being wheeled around as "democratic" person. I always wonder why Ethiopians fall in love with their sworn enemies who tell them that they are to destroy them. It is my contention that neither Dima nor OLF have revised their view of Ethiopia as a colonial empire that should be broken apart. The deceptive appearance of Dima Negewo as one of the leaders of the new Oromo Democratic Front has not in the least heralded any new development with regard to a changed attitude towards Ethiopia. It is just a tactical move to hypnotize Ethiopians to the point of folding their arms and waiting passively as their only country is being destroyed brick by brick. Oromo ethno-nationalists from Bucha Demeksa & Merrera Gudina in Ethiopia to the OLF (with all its various outfits) remain committed to the creation of an independent Oromia. Any one worth his salt can challenge me openly on this assertion I make. For any one remotely cognizant of the Ethiopian socio-political and economic reality, ethnic federlaism or the identity politics which it informs and the latter of which is based on mutual hatred cannot be the cornerstone of democratization of society. Sadly, the Ethiopian intellectuals who accomodate these OLF cadres do not seem to understand the very essence of ethnic politics that is destroying every fiber of Ethiopia. It is pointless to appease OLF or its blind followers. You cannot change their position by appeasing them as the Ethiopian Diaspora has tried to do by promoting OLF cadres like Jawar and Dima Negewo.
